Rise before dawn for the iconic Nine Arch Bridge — a masterpiece of British colonial stone viaduct engineering, best witnessed as the morning mist drifts across the valley and a vintage blue train crosses in silhouette against the rising sun. Your private photographer captures this unmissable moment. In the morning, embark on the Ella Rock summit trail with your dedicated nature guide — a 2.5-hour moderately challenging ascent rewarded with panoramic 270-degree views over tea valleys and jungle ridges.
Day 04 of 07Horton Plains World's End & Departure
Set out at first light for Horton Plains National Park — a hauntingly beautiful cloud-forest plateau at 2,100 metres. Walk the 9-kilometre loop trail through sub-montane grasslands and primordial cloud forest to reach World's End, a sheer escarpment dropping 880 metres to the southern lowland plains. On clear mornings the sea is visible 50 kilometres away. Return through Baker's Falls — a cascade plunging into crystal mountain pools — before your private chauffeur drives you to Colombo or the airport for departure.
